What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing is the delivering different types
of services over the internet
from software and analytics to secure and safe data storage and networking resources everything can be delivered via the internet. He
practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the internet to store , manage and process data , rather than a local server or personal computer Cloud computing provides the different types of services like software as a services SAAS , platform as a services PAAS , infrastructure as a services IAAS. Example: Microsoft azure, amazon web services  Characteristics of Cloud
Computing
1. On demand self service:
It enables the users to use cloud computing
recourse as needed
without human interaction
between the user and cloud service provider
with
an on-demand service. The consumer
can schedule the use of cloud services such as

computation and storage as needed in addition to managing and deploying
the services.

2. Broad network access: For cloud computing to be an effective alternative to inhouse data ,high bandwidth with communication links must be available to connect to the cloud services.
One of the principle economic reasons for cloud
computing is the  lowered cost of high bandwidth
network communication to the cloud providers
access to a large pool of information technology
resources.
Many
organizations use three tier architecture
to connect various
computing platforms. Such
as mobiles , laptops, printers , PDA to
WAN
(Wide Area Network).

This architecture comprises:
1.  Access switches that connect desktop devices to aggregation switches.

2.  Aggregation switches that control flow.

3.  Core routers to the WAN (Wide Area Network)
      and traffic
management.

3. Location independent resource
pooling:
The cloud must have a large and flexible resources pool to meet the consumers' needs, provide economies of scale and meet services level requirements , application requires resources must be allocated efficiently for optimum performance.
These resources must be physically located,
at many environmental locations and assigned
as virtual components.
4. Measured services:   Because of the service oriented characteristics of cloud computing, the amount of cloud resources used by a consumer can be effectively and automatically allocated and monitored. The consumer then be built based on the measured usage only. 5. Pay as per you go: In cloud computing, the user only has to pay for their services or their space that the user uses. There are no extra charges for the services users only pay for used services.

Sometimes some space is allocated free to the users in public cloud services or sometimes in hybrid clouds also. 6. Security : Cloud security is the one of the best features of cloud computing services. It creates the snapshot of the data stored so that the data may not be lost even if the server gets damaged.
The cloud storage service is easy and quick and
reliable.
Benefits of cloud computing
There are many benefits of cloud storage and computing.
Some benefits are as follows:

1.Scalability:
Cloud based solutions are ideal for business
with growing or fluctuating demands. If your business demands increase you can easily increase your cloud capacity without

investing in physical infrastructure.

2.Efficient and cost reduction: By using cloud infrastructure you don't have to
spend huge amount of money on purchasing and maintaining resources.   You don't have to invest in expensive hardware facilities, utilities or building out the large data center to grow your business.

3.Data security: Cloud offers many advanced security features
that guarantee the data is securely stored and handled cloud storage providers implement based lineprotaction for their platforms and their data they  processed such as authentication , access control encryption. 4.Simplicity: There is no need to buy and configure the
equipment that allows you and your  IT staff to get your right business.
The
cloud solution makes it possible for  your application to start immediately and its
cost is very less.
Limitations of cloud computing
There are some limitations of cloud computing in real time cloud storage as follows: 1.Network connection:
If there are problems in network connectivity
accessing the cloud becomes a problem. Performance of a cloud application is also depending upon the performance of the network at the client site. 2.Control of data security: In the case of public clouds we don't have
control over the security of his data. The clients data can be susceptible to hacking or phishing attacks. 3.Additional cost: Although cloud computing offers cost benefits
it has some hidden or additional cost as well. Clouds are charged extra to the clients for data transferring or other services.
4.Peripherals:
Devices like printers or scanners might not
work with clouds. Many of them are required software to be installed.
5.Integration :
Interacting internal applications with those and
a cloud can be complex and in some cases not viable.
Cloud based on the several components such as clients, data centers and distributed servers. Each elements has a purpose and plays a specific role in delivery a functional cloud application.
1.Client Computers: Clients are the device so that the end users
can easily interact to manage their information on the cloud. 1.Mobile:
Mobile devices include PDA or smartphones like
blackberry, iPhone, windows and other operating systems.
2.Thin:
Clients are computers but  they do not have an internal hard drive but it does the all work and displays the information.
3.Thick:
This type of clients are regular computers using web
browsers or web applications like firefox, internet explorer to connect the cloud.

2. Data centers:
The data centers is a collection of servers where the application to which yo subscribe is situated.      It could be a large room in a basement of your building or a room full of servers situated on the other side of the world that you access through the internet.     A growing trend in the IT world is virtualizing servers.  software can be installed allowing multiple instances of virtual servers to be used in various virtual machines.

3. Distributed servers:
These servers are physically separated locations but the cloud users can easily access that server. This gives the service provider  more flexibility.   If sometimes what happens on one side callsign  a failure the services would be still accessed through another side.       Also if the cloud needs more hardware they can add them at another side and simply make it part of a cloud.
